Rare 1860-1862 Mappin & Company Trio Basket with Intricate Woven Design

This exceptional antique basket, crafted by Mappin & Company between 1860 and 1862, is a rare and fascinating find. Mappin & Company only existed for these few years in Oxford, England, before they started their transition to Mappin & Webb. Jonathon Mappin originally became a silver crafter in 1775 and in 1860, John Mappin started this company.  Three intricately woven baskets are seamlessly joined to form an elegant oval-shaped trio, supported by beautifully detailed feet. As you can see, silver plate shows some tarnish and wear that I was unable to remove. Measures 10.5" tall x 10.5" wide.
