Pair of Antique Old Sheffield Plate Candlesticks

These charming candleholders, made in the early 1800s, are a beautiful example of Old Sheffield Plate, the forerunner to modern electroplating. The process involved layering thin sheets of sterling silver over copper, which gives these pieces their unique character. You’ll notice the classic features of Old Sheffield Plate—like the visible copper base, the side seam, and the rolled edge on the bottom.

Hand-chased and carefully crafted by skilled artisans, these candleholders have a lovely, aged look, with some copper showing through the silver. Standing at 7.75" tall, they’re a wonderful piece of history and craftsmanship from the early 19th century.
