Antique "Gallia" Christofle Wine Basket from the turn of the Century
Antique "Gallia" Christofle Wine Basket from the turn of the Century
The famous French Silversmith from France, Christofle, made a comeback at the turn of the century with a new type of metal and "modern" styles. The innovative new styles were a change from the traditional Louis XVI styles. Gallia silver was a new kind of metal that was coated with silver. The mark of Gallia signifies a certain time period and production of silver and is very collectable.
This antique wine basket was made in Paris around the early 1900's. Use it to display or pour wine or just to display this antique treasure. Marked “Gallia FRANCE” and “Prod. Christofle” 9.5” long. Sone tarnish but otherwise great antique condition.
