Here is a flower frog!  What is a flower frog?  It is something made to hold or arrange flowers.  This one, made by Middletown Silver Craft which began in the 1800's, is a silverplate bowl that sits elegantly on a pedestal.  There is a reticulated pierced lid that fits on top with a spider web like pattern which is how the flowers are inserted and held.  The bowl holds the water.  What an unusual and unique presentation piece, either with or without the flowers! This one was likely made in the early 1900's. See the photo of the ad with a very similar piece from Middletown Silver Craft! There are some tarnish marks I was unable to remove. 12.5" x 6"
