Antique Old Sheffield Plate Bottle Coaster

This is a special antique, it was made in the early 1800's in what is called Old Sheffield plate.  It was invented before silver plate.  Another thin metal, in this case copper, was coated on both sides with sterling silver and then shaped into a table item.  The edges are usually rolled or slightly sharp and is an indicator of this highly collectable method.  This valuable coaster has a center of wood which has minor surface wear from use.  It has a story to tell, imagine if it was used at an historic tavern! It can become an heirloom in your household. Late 1700’s to early 1800’s. Some minor wear from age and use.
