Antique Quadroupleplate Dome Butter Dish

Here is a beautiful antique dome butter dish that is truly breathtaking! Large and substantial, it is comprised of three pieces: a lid, base, and original insert. This piece is particularly special with its lovely hand engravings, exquisite pedestal, detailed handles, separate pierced drain insert, and butter knife holder. The dish is adorned with bird engravings, including a curtain with tassels that lifts to reveal a bird sitting on a branch, and the base of the dome features various bird vignettes. It includes a very ornate butter knife made by Rogers, with an "M" engraved in the handle. Measuring 7" tall, this gorgeous piece was crafted in the mid to late 1800s by the famous American Silver Company, Meridan, from Taunton, Massachusetts. Marked "Quadrupleplate," it signifies it is covered in four layers of silver. Excellent Antique Condition.
